After breakfast, embark on a tour of Thimphu city, beginning with the iconic Buddha Dordenma Statue at Kuensel Phodrang, which offers a sweeping view of the city. Explore Changangkha Lhakhang, one of the oldest temples, and the Motithang Takin Reserve. After breakfast, depart for Paro, a scenic 65 km drive that takes about 2 hours. En route, visit the historic Tamchog Lhakhang, built in the 13th century by the famed Iron bridge builder, Thangthong Gyalpo. Upon arriving in Paro, explore Ta Dzong, an ancient watchtower now serving as the national museum, offering panoramic views of the Paro Valley. Next, visit the Paro Rimpung Dzong, known as the "Fortress of the Heap of Jewels," built in 1646 by Shabdrung Ngawang Namgyal. Stroll across the Nemi Zam Bridge, a traditional covered bridge that links Paro town to the Dzong, and visit Kyichu Lhakhang, one of Bhutan’s oldest and most revered temples. Begin the day with breakfast and then embark on a journey to Taktsang Monastery, also known as Tiger’s Nest, perched at 3,100 meters in the Upper Paro Valley. According to legend, Guru Rinpoche traveled here on a tigress’s back to meditate, making it a sacred site. The hike to the monastery is vigorous, taking about 5-6 hours round trip, featuring steep paths and narrow stairs, hence it is not recommended for small children or the elderly. After this spiritual and physical adventure, return to your hotel in Paro for the night.
